Planning for Your Family Portraits
When you call 360-671-6851 to inquire about a portrait session we will first schedule a conversation to plan your portraits, usually at your home. There is no charge for this initial consultation. I like to get to know you so you’re not strangers when it’s time to create your portraits. Everyone is more comfortable that way and your portraits will be more natural and relaxed.
Some of the topics we’ll talk about are:
Who will be included in your portrait?
How many adults? Children? Pets? Should we plan time to photograph them individually as well as part of the whole group? In smaller groups? Our session fee covers all these options.
What do you like to do together as a family?
This helps us decide where to photograph you. Perhaps you’ll want to consider active portraits as well as the more formal portraits most people think of first.
What are some of your favorite places?
You’ll want to choose one of them for your portrait session so your portrait will have additional memories later on.
Are you a casual or formal family?
If you’re casual then dad shouldn’t be wearing his suit.
Where are you thinking of displaying your portrait art?
Will a vertical or horizontal portrait be most appropriate? What size is going to look best on your wall? Matted? Framed? Gallery wrap? Portrait gallery grouping?
What’s next?
At the end of your consultation we’ll schedule your portrait session. The session fee is due at that time.
