Bellingham
Bellingham, with a population around 80,000, is the urban center of Whatcom County. It is home of Western Washington University, with its world-famous outdoor sculpture collection and strong academic reputation. The Fairhaven district, once a town of its own, is a growing walkable neighborhood with a mix of businesses and residences. Downtown has the county courthouse, Whatcom Museum, Bellingham High School, and a commercial center. The city is struggling with growth issues, much like other communities in the northwest. It’s a great place to live and visit. Several of these photos appear in Bellingham Impressions, published in 2007. Autographed copies can be ordered from the Books page.
