Mt. Shuksan with Rising Lunar Eclipse

The dark orange orb of the full moon illuminated only by the light reflected from the earth rises along Mt. Shuksan's summit pyramid on a clear September night. This image was made from Huntoon Point, a short walk out Artist Ridge from the end of the Mt. Baker Highway. There were a few other people enjoying the celestial show the warm autumn night this photo was taken in 1996. We stayed and watched as the moon slowly moved out of the earth's shadow and returned to full brightness.
