The Senior Portrait Experience

Plan

A senior portrait by Mark Turner begins with a planning session. Mark will meet you and get to know you and your interests. Together, we’ll decide where to create your portraits and talk about clothing, hair, and makeup. Share your ideas for your portrait, or brainstorm concepts with Mark. Let Mark know if you want to include any props — a pet, musical instrument, sports gear, or car.

Shoot

During your session Mark will photograph you in many different poses, from your wildest ideas to something that will please a conservative grandma. All sessions are photographed on location. You choose the spot — a park, the ski area, your farm, the beach, an alley, on your boat — it’s your call.

A standard session lasts about 90 minutes. You can be photographed in two or three outfits in that time.

Deluxe sessions run about two hours and include up to four outfits.

You can bring a friend, or even your mom, to your session. Just don’t get carried away or you’ll get distracted. Your friend may even get to be a VAL (voice-activated light stand).

Pick

After your session Mark will prepare your portraits for projection on the big screen. Make sure mom brings her checkbook or credit card because you’re going to want them all. Choose your favorites to display big on the wall of your home as fine art, get an album, and order some little 8x10 tabletop portraits for gifts. Your viewing and purchasing session will be a week or two after your session.

Show Off

Once you’ve decided, then Mark will retouch your portraits to enhance them and clean up any complexion problems. When the archival prints come back from the lab he’ll handle whatever finishing and framing you've selected, then deliver your portraits to you. Show ‘em to all your friends. You’ve earned it.
