Once in this small Wilmington, Delaware townhouse garden you would have seen a couple of trees and rhodies and a large white dog who called the place home. Six years ago all that changed. The dog went to her daughter's and Mary Lou double dug the entire yard, adding composted mulch, peat moss, cow manure, and sand. She added flowering trees, put in a patio, deck, and paths, and went to work filling the space with woody and herbaceous perennials of all colors and textures. Today its quiet and shady nooks burst with perennials and quirky garden art, many pieces by local artists.
